Book Description"[James Van Praagh] has changed people's lives, banished the fear of death, and brought grieving parents the solace of their dead children's presence...IT IS IMPOSSIBLE NOT TO BE MOVED." (
Newsweek)
This is the groundbreaking book which introduced renowned medium James Van Praagh to the world. This is the book that changed people's lives, that gave them hope, that answered their most profound questions about life after death. This is the phenomenon that continues to grow...
"A wonderful and uplifting book...I highly recommend it. If you have ever feared death or grieved the loss of a loved one, James Van Praagh's spiritual stories and lessons will heal your heart. He is without a doubt one of the most gifted mediums on the planet at this time." (Brian L. Weiss, M.D., author
Many Lives, Many Masters)
Amazon.comAs in the case of James Redfield's
The Celestine Prophecy, once in a while a book comes along that unexpectedly soars to the bestseller lists simply because it feeds a specific spiritual hunger.
Talking to Heaven is one such book. Based on the personal insights and memories of highly acclaimed medium James Van Praagh,
Talking to Heaven offers comforting and startling stories about his contact with the deceased. Van Praagh could have used this text to prove that his gifts as a medium are authentic--the story about the deceased teenager who led his parents to his murderer is impressive (the result was a murder conviction)--but instead, Van Praagh offers spiritual and psychological comfort to those grappling with the loss of a loved one. He also helps readers develop their own means of talking to heaven. Even those who aren't aching for contact with the deceased will find Van Praagh's down-to-earth discussions of karma, the afterlife, and spiritual guides fascinating.

A Gift : Talking to HeavenFirst, when you read anything from James Van Praagh, you have the sense that he's speaking directly to you. If you are a non believer, please read this book. I guarantee that by the time you reach the end of the book, you won't be so sure anymore. For those who do believe, it is a nice feeling to know that the ones we've loved are not lost to us and that they are continuing their journey.

I will read this over and over again:)My mom passed away two years ago and my friend loaned me this book to read. I believe Mr. Van Praagh when he said he communicates with the spiritual world and I enjoyed his experiences he shared with us in the book. The book gave me a peace of mind that my mother is always with me and if I look close enough, I will see it in the messages or signs she sends me. Whenever I am feeling down, I pick up this book and remember the ways we are all connected between the physical and spiritual world.

The New Age at its worstPandering, hypocritical, assumptive nonsense. Take a look at Van Praagh's resume and it's pretty clear that he communicates with the dead, alright: mainly Benjamin, Grant, and Jackson. He classifies mediumistic talents, drawing on stuff that was discredited a hundred years ago, like apports and ectoplasmic voiceboxes. Gag. He even has the audacity to mention that ectoplasm sometimes "looks like cheesecloth." I guess because that's exactly what its been proven to be. After rehashing all the same Sylvia Browne bunk about vibratory rates and spiritual planes, he has the nerve to bash the Catholic Church for some 20 pages, concluding "I still find it a bit unbelievable the Catholic Church teaches this stuff," and refers to Christianity as "mythology." Wow.
Pass this one by, even if you are a spiritualist. Van Praagh is a cynical charlatan and frustrated screen-writer. The genre holds many more satisfying reads for just about any persuasion.
