Product DescriptionWhat
The Daily Show is to evening news,
The Colbert Report is to personality-driven pundit shows. Colbert brings his sarcastic charm to a half-hour report, tackling the important issues of the day and telling his guests why their opinions are just plain wrong. Stephen stands for truthiness and his American right to copyright that word and claim ownership of it.
I AM AMERICA the audiobook, features an all-American cast that includes Paul Dinello, Kevin Dorff, Greg Hollimon, Evie McGee, David Pasquesi, Amy Sedaris, Allison Silverman, Bryan Stack, and Jon Stewart. Stephen Colbert describes his audiobook as a simple audiobook from a simple mind--Stephen Colbert. It is one man's attempt to wedge his brain between hardback covers---in this case CD jackets. In plain conversational language, not to mention the occasional grunt and/or whistle, Stephen explains his take on the most pressing concerns of our culture: Faith, Family...Hygiene.
Why now? Stephen fears America has lost its balls and he hopes to re-ballify us. Even the ladies. Ladies can have balls--lady-balls too. Stephen likes to call those "Thatchers." Stephen will show how he got his mammoth swinging sack, with tales of courage and vital documents from his own life: the Mother's Day card he made at age six, disputed credit card bills, putt-putt score cards--all the major milestones.
Oh and don't buy this if you don't have any balls! But if you do buy it, you will get them, and then you can buy another copy with a clean conscience. (2008)

You are America and you don't know that Pilgrims are not Puritans? Those lovable, Indian hugging, blunderbust shooting candyasses, with big buckles, never torched a witch. The Pilgrims died out. The Puritans came to America later and morphed into our modern, pie baking, Congregationlists, who are now indistinguishable from other, dying-out, Protestant hymn singers. They will not like having their Bible thumping ancestors outed but I am stuffed with turkey and on a roll.
How can a frog-eating person of French descent be America? We do not eat fussy pastry or horses here. His next book should be --I Am France --and he should get a proofreader who paid attention (around Thanksgiving) in fifth grade. Little Stephen must have been spanking his monkey in the back of the classroom. Great book though. I spanked, I blasted away and I stuffed until I laughed.
This review is by Mary's husband, Goldenrod, who is still living what is left of the American dream. Yes, the rod is less golden but the dream is still there. Just ask Mary.

I was sad to see this book end! This book is incredibly hilarious, if you "get" Stephen Colbert's type of humor. If you like his show, you'll love this book. His tongue-in-cheek, extreme rightwing pundit character is just as politically incorrect as ever, and just so so funny. Complete with his opinion everywhere, including in the margins, it encompasses everything we love about "The Colbert Report." Aside from a few distracting typos (which, according to one sentence in the end of the book, may or may not have been put there on purpose), I found this an easy read and unbelievably fun way to spend my time, and I kept wishing the book was longer, or -- better yet-- that there was a sequel. I hope he writes another. I liked it so much, I bought some as gifts for friends.

disappointmentI love Stephen and his show, but his book is too boring. I couldn't finish it.

So far so good....Read the first few chapters and it is very Stephen Colbert. Whitty, funny, in depth, blunt...good book so far
