Maggie Sansone on hammered dulcimer with members of Ensemble Galilei: Marcia Diehl on recorder, bowed psaltery and pennywhistle; Jim Brooks on recorder and concertina; Sue Richards on Celtic harp; Carolyn Surrick on treble viol & bass viola da gamba; and special guests Bonnie Rideout on Scottish fiddle, Zan McLeod on cittern and guitar and Ben Harms on hand drums and medieval tambourine.

Includes: Basque and Galician carols from Spain, medieval Dutch & French carols, and Renaissance tunes by 16th century master Tilman Susato.

Wonderful Old World Christmas
What a delightful change from the typical Christmas tunes we hear over and over again. This beautiful music takes one back, way back... imagine a banquet hall in a medeival castle, with tapestries on the walls and damsels in the halls, wassail and a pig roasting in the huge stone fireplace. Well, that's where the music takes my vivid imagination anyway! I love it, beautifully done.

Absolutely wonderful!
Pure poetry! This album is a must-have for anyone interested in ancient music! This alternative Christmas album offers a fresh feel to the familiar genre with gems like 'The Truth sent from above' and 'In the bleak of midwinter'.

Ancient Noels Christmas CD
I don't like this CD as much as Sounds of the Season I and II, but I do like it. It has grown on me over time.

for any lover of music
Extremely well done-- a nice break from the usual Holiday music, but certainly something that can be played at any time of year. These performers combine their love of musical scholarship with engaging performances and come up winners!

Exceptional renditions for beautiful presentation
I was searching for beautiful yet ancient Christmas music. Having listened to several sample albums, I found this treasure. It is quite different: the music is truly presented. It is not just played, every part loudly to get its two-bits in. It is soooo beautiful.
