Enjoyable and somewhat engaging3 1/2
An accessible, mildly challenging brief serving of Jazz fusion with some early 80's street funk vibed in for good measure. Although the results still too often feel contrived in an easy-listening-with-edge sort of way, there are still far too many noteworthy elements going on within the interplay to ignore it as a jazz-funk relic.

Crusaders Street LifeThis is an old relaease that I had on vinyl and wanted on CD. It is still an excellent releaase of the Crusaders near their peak in my opinion. Not as outstanding as the Crusader 1 release. That album release was the greatest work by the Crusaders and this is second in their lineup.

awesome vocals by Randy Crawford...the girl just tears up that unforgettable classic song. The whole album is Crusaders at their finest. They tear it up and uplift you. Street Life is the one you'll never forget but the rest of the album also has the band playing tight and riffing. One of my fav Crusades albums.

THE STREET LIFE DON'T CHANGE!!!Almost thirty years later, this is still one of the most prolific albums of all time. I was all of nine years old when the single "Street Life" debuted on what we now call urban radio. Although the Crusaders are considered a jazz ensemble, the understated rawness and delivery of Ms. Crawford made this song a hit, and as a result, a crossover sucess in the r&b genre. The lyrics paint such a vivid picture and a cautionary tale of life in the streets, and it still rings true today. As far as I am concerned, the intro to this song is the most epic and complete, even today with its wailing saxaphone solo. There are some songs that will forever be imbedded in your mind because it takes back to that place, and this album for me is one of them. Pick it up!!!!
