Slippery When Wet transformed Bon Jovi from minor-league poodle rockers to global superstars on the back of hit singles "You Give Love a Bad Name," "Never Say Goodbye," and, of course, "Living on a Prayer." From the scantily clad car-wash girls on the inner sleeve to the "You lost more than that in my back seat / Yeah!" lyrics, the album is blissfully untouched by irony and subtlety, which actually adds to its charm. With guitarist Richie Sambora and songwriter Desmond Child, Jon Bon Jovi has produced a slew of consistently memorable tunes, and this album contains its fair share of them. Not the best, but it's ok.
Many people will say this is their best release ever, but I beg to differ. Ok, so the best songs on this one are "You Give Love A Bad Name," "Livin' On A Prayer," "Wanted Dead or Alive," and "Never Say Goodbye." ONLY 4 GOOD SONGS?! For me, buying a CD with only 4 "good" songs really isn't worth it, especially in this day in age where we have the option of just buying one song as an MP3 format instead of the whole thing. Of course, back then, we really didn't have that option. Furthermore, the rest of the songs on here are really "filler" songs that are just plain terrible. Come on, just listen to "Wild In The Streets" or "Raise Your Hands" or "Let It Rock" and especially "Social Disease" which is probably the WORST filler song on here.Well, I'm sure there are those who really think that those are the "greatest" songs in the world, and it's ok! This is only my opinion!

Yes, I will agree that "Slippery" did put Bon Jovi on the map and helped them become as big as they are today. I have been a fan of these guys for 20 years, and I still cannot and will not ever give a 5 star rating for this one. They are one of my favorites of all time, but I don't like everything they put out!


On the positive side, though, at LEAST the band did manage to give us those 4 songs, and yes, I AM grateful for that!

Ehhh not that good at all
Slippery When Wet some think its the greatest album of all time but personally i think its just one of those albums you can just pass on as nothing. Whats so special about, "Let It Rock", oooh so they used synth and guitar and just played one note and than bon jovi's singing comes in who cares. The reason i give it two stars is because its okay i guess i mean livin on a prayer and wanted dead or alive is okay but besides that its too glammy. not great not good

Great Rockin' Album!
This is a a great album containing some of their biggest, most well known hits that are still being played on the radio today. If you're not really a big Bon Jovi fan and are not interested in acquiring their individual albums, or even their greatest hits compilations, but would like some of their best songs in your collection then this is the one to get! (the price is a steal nowadays!) Some albums have only one ot two great songs, this has several: "Livin' on a Prayer", "You Give Love a Bad Name", "Wanted Dead or Alive", "Raise Your Hands", "Without Love"...good value!

A True, Timeless Classic!
The mid to late 80's, 1986-87 in particular, was a great time for music. This album came along at just the right time for me, age 11-12, just when I was really starting to get ''into'' music. I love almost all of the music from this time period, and this album is no exception. A friend of mine had the cassette, and when I would go over to visit we would listen to the tape from start to finish. At the same time, take the liner notes and work on memorizing all the lyrics. I now have the newly remastered CD, and when I pop this in the player, I still listen from start to finish. The new remaster is great, this album sounds better than ever. This is pop-metal at it's finest. From start to finish, all songs are great. To listen, brings back great memories, and is still great today, in my book. 'Wanted Dead Or Alive', 'You Give Love A Bad Name', 'Livin On A Prayer', Never Say Goodbye', many great classics are here. For me, there's nothing else I can add, just let the music do the rest of the talking. Buy it, listen, and rock on!

This music is really great if you are an 80's and 90's hair band lover! Great Tunes!!
